A Giveaway...

On Saturday, I promised a giveaway as a sort of celebration of this blog's 1 year anniversary. Thank you for your encouragement, and for stopping by here now and again. I appreciate each of you and consider it a privilege to call you my friends.

Recently, I noticed that a favorite author of mine, Becky McGurrin, has published a new book. I do not read many story books these days, it seems, but I really liked her previous books and have them both:

and now, her latest published work:

"Emma is a Hurst, and a very determined one.
Epilepsy, death of loved ones, incarceration, cancer,
the adjustments of a long single hood followed by marriage,
God used all these things to shape Emma into a woman
with a desire to yield completely to Him.
Follow Emma through her fascinating journey
as a Mennonite farm girl, factory seamstress, college student,
 public schoolteacher, wife, and widow.
Be amazed at the wise and loving hand of God
as He patiently guides, protects, and creates
a Hurst with real strength,
 a daughter joyfully surrended
to her heavenly Father"

I was so blessed as I read this book.
I was challenged and encouraged
to keep my will totally surrendered
to the Lord all my days.
My faith was increased
as again I realized that truly,
as God's child,
I am safe in His care...

SO...
I am giving away "Emma"
in 2 weeks,
on March 31, 2014.
To enter the giveaway,
drop a comment at the end
of this post.
(I won't publish it if you specify
that you don't want it to be
published).
Be sure to leave your name,
and I would love to
read of your favorite Scripture,
or even telling what He is
doing for/teaching you.

The winner will be randomly
chosen by my son who
will select your name
from a jar,
the old fashioned way
:-)

Looking forward to hearing from you.

  2. I enjoyed this author too, at least the one I've read. I've enjoyed your blog in the short time I've been following you, sometimes God has used it just to meet a need that I was facing! It's hard to pick a favorite verse, but one that's really meaningful to me these last months has been Lamentations 3:21-25 "This I recall to mind, therefore I have hope. It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in Him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for Him, to the soul that seeketh Him."

    1. Laura, it has been a joy learning to know you. Keep "walking daily with your Savior/And doubt will disappear/You cannot be in darkness/While He, the Light is near." (our family's theme song right now that has been speaking volumes to me!)
      Love always,
      Marcia

  3. Thanks Marcia for your many wonderful inspiring post, we may not know each other very well in a personal way but I feel like we have kindred spirits, and that can only happen as two people walking down similar paths and letting God shape our lives the way He sees best. I praise God for a friend I found through google +. And I want to encourage you, keep up the wonderful posting.
Lately God has been sifting me and showing me areas I need to step up, it's been painful but I am so thankful God never gives up on us, no matter how we deserve it. ~Lisa ~

  5. Your blog has been a real blessing and inspiration to me along the way over the past year. Thanks for putting so much into it!
I think one of the biggest things God's been teaching me lately is to wait on Him during both the night seasons and all the day long, and to truly believe that He makes all things beautiful in His perfect time.

  6. Hi Jen...Good to hear from you, too. Waiting and totally trusting God is hard on that flesh of ours, isn't it?! But so totally worth it.
    Blessings and love to you,

  7. I just want to say Thank you for taking the time to share your heart. I know you're a busy mom and moms that do this have a special place in my heart! I much enjoy reading reading your posts, espc if the day was LONG with mommy duties! My favorite Bible verse right now (changes with what I/We are going through in life) is My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither my ways your ways, declares the Lord! God keeps showing me no matter how much I plan for my/our life he is still in control! And I'm glad he is!!!!

    1. Dear Anonymous (who I hope if you win the giveaway that I know who you are :-),
You are most welcome. Blogging is an outlet for me to share about the amazing Father that we have! It is my desire to let Jesus be the Light here on these posts for others. I KNOW how long and rough is the road that leads Home...and how much 'a cup of cold water' and 'good news' encourages me so I just want to give it to others.
Blessings in your mothering. He is faithful who has called us to whatever duty we find ourselves facing.

      Love and blessings,
      Marcia

      PS
Blogging is also a way for me to not stare too long at the waves crashing around my little boat...a personal action against the onslaughts of the enemy of souls who would have me wallow in self-pity and despair. I serve a risen Savior and I will not let the enemy steal what joy He has given me! Hallelujah!
